Our Story

Greetings Gardeners, Black Lake Organic (B.L.O.) has been in operation for  thirty years, ever since Gary Kline, owner and manager, started selling organic fertilizers out of his garage in 1980. Soon after came the early version of our now famous B.L.O. Optimum Mix (B.L.O.O.M.) fertilizers. Over the years, B.L.O. branched out to become a full line Garden Store having all the products for your organic growing needs and an Organic Nursery specializing in organically grown vegetable starts.  Simply put, B.L.O. has been growing organically since long before the word "organic" came into vogue.

B.L.O., however, does not stop there. We go beyond mere organics by employing a Mineral Augmented Organic (M.A.O.) method in all the plants we sell, including the vegetable starts we offer and in our nursery production. We advocate and teach about using the M.A.O. method in your gardening for nutritionally superior plants and a healthier you. In a word, B.L.O. is about health.

Using M.A.O. results in a superior plant when compared to those grown by ordinary organic methods (and, of course, unbalanced chemically-grown plants). The M.A.O. method results in garden produce that actually has all the vitamins, minerals, and great taste that is lacking in store-bought produce.
As a bonus it increases internal resistance to pests and diseases in plants and those eating the plants. This has been demonstrated over and over.

Fast Forwarding- Black Lake Organic Community is new wine from an old cask.  It is a Membership Community designed to meld our many long standing, loyal customers and  friends with our steadily growing internet clientele and bring this brew bubbling  to new heights and to far greater availability worldwide.

Our quaint little business, headquartered in the rustic garden store you see pictured above, is far more than it appears to be.  It brings a truly unique combination of wisdom, a long missing dimension of organic plant growing, and practical, environmentally compatible product offerings to share with people everywhere who are in search of the healthy, life-sustaining posture we put forth.  Such living modes are emerging as the most sensible path for appreciative individuals, close-knit neighborhoods, and for safeguarding our planet home.

Becoming a Black Lake Organic Community Member integrates all of us into a rapidly growing, inter-acting community of heightened awareness and purpose. In addition, we offer a coupled  action plan with the instructions, directional guidance and tools to get us all to a high level of greater food self sufficiency, security and satisfaction. As Member participants  we also are bonded to an ever-strengthening and stabilizing force for the truly good life on into the distant future.
